WHat is YOUTH career coaching ?
Career coaching is a method that aims to help young people move forward in their process of reflection and decision-making on choices relating to their direction of study.
The coach helps the young person to develop a coherent study project in line with their personality, their profile, their strengths, their driving forces, their internal motivations and their life aspirations.
It is a process over several sessions with 3 essential steps:
1- Self-knowledge
During this stage we will analyze the young persons' life and school career, their hobbies, their interests, their values, their strengths, their talents, their personality and their driving forces.
To do this, several tools will be used including analysis of questionnaires, school reports, personality tests and individual interviews with the young person.
This is an essential step before developing an orientation project.
2- Exploration of studies and professions
Following this in-depth knowledge of the young person, the coach will suggest that they think about the fields of study and professions that could correspond to their profile. During this work we will use, for example, image projection exercises, job descriptions, and study lists on which we will discuss the aspects that attract or repel them.
We will work on their ideal working environment for their studies (university, campus, country, type of supervision, etc.) and professional environment (relational contact, office, field, etc.) based on their personality in order to refine their choice .
Once the field of study or profession has been defined as well as the style of environment that would best suit the young person, we will move on to the 3rd step.
3- Developing the orientation plan
During this stage, we will look in detail at different training courses which could correspond to their desires in order to define an initial list of establishments which could suit them and will summarize their choices in a table with all the stages, modalities for their future applications.
During the last session, the young person and the coach will provide the parents with a summary of the work stages.
A complete report detailing all the steps will be given to parents.
As applications approach, this list can be reviewed and supplemented with the guidance counselor of the young person's school to whom they will present themselves with a carefully considered and motivated study project.

WHEN TO START A YOUTH CAREER COACHING?
The ideal is to start the orientation reflection as early as possible in sixth form at least 6 months before starting your applications. The sooner the young person has a goal in mind, the more motivated they will be to succeed in achieving it.
HOW DO THE COACHING SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?
To consider complete coaching covering the 3 stages, you need 6 sessions of approximately 90 minutes face to face (in London) or by Zoom (from anywhere) with the youth. Parents are present during an introductory session and during a final feedback session. A report will be provided at the end of the sessions.
